Cut brambles long enough,
Sprout after sprout,
And the lotus will bloom
Of its own accord:
Already waiting in the clearing,
The single image of light.
The day you see this,
That day you will become it.
This poem, written by the 12th century Taoist female sage Sun Bu-er and translated by contemporary poet Jane Hirshfield, inspired the Creative Choices logo of the lotus flower. It describes how dedication to the hard work of growth ensures full blooming and how we grow into, paradoxically, what we already are. We need resources to help us on this journey of growth, and you can connect here with sources of inspiration and insight.
