Heightened Vitality, Curiosity, and Optimism
Many of us are experiencing our own personal energy crisis. Fatigue clouds thinking and darkens mood. Having a coaching ally brightens perspective and infuses energy.
Four Reasons You're Tired
1] Overwork 2] Self-criticism and perfectionism 3] Worry leading to sleep problems 4] Trying to do it alone |
Four Reasons Coaching Helps
1] You can work smarter not harder. 2] You can learn to give yourself the same breaks you would to anyone else. 3] You can learn to manage anxiety and apply self-care strategies to get more rest. 4] Your coach helps you tap into others' generosity and willingness to help. |
Curiosity keeps us young in mind and heart. As we do too much and rely too much on our own opinions and strategies, we lose mental flexibility and creativity. We forget there might be other ways to do things. As a coach, I rely on my own talent for generating options to help pique clients' curiosity about how they might approach their dilemmas differently. Through dialogue during sessions and exercises I suggest for reflection and writing in between sessions, clients report new insights that spark breakthroughs and lead to solid solutions. Optimism is a skill that can be learned. Research on "explanatory style" (Seligman, 1991), the way you talk to yourself about the good and bad things that happen to you, shows that mental and physical health, job performance, and satisfaction with life improve with a more hopeful and proactive approach. As a coach, I teach skills to counter depression and to generate growing self-confidence.
